The Italians dove against Australia which gave them the win. It was a blatant dive and the Italy player knew it. They Cheated and because of it they won the world cup.
Umm...Stenar, you obviously do not watch soccer, because whether or not it was an own goal or not, it was still a goal. The ball was played beautifully into a dangerous position, and if Zaccardo had not attempted to play the ball, McBride was in position to score on the basically empty net. Regardless, the fact that the US was able to tie the EVENTUAL WORLD CHAMPIONS while being DOWN A MAN for the entire second half shows the potential this team had if its coach had the guts to use more attack-minded players (Eddie Johnson, anyone). Is the US in the class of the Italys and Englands and Brazils? Probably not, but they're not as far as everyone says they are after watching a grand total of three games.

That headbutt was pretty rough looking. You have to wonder if Zidane was ROID RAGING for trash talking to set him off like that.
Sad to see a good career end like that. I think Zidane may try and pull a Michael Jordan and back out of retirement once again.

We are the only team to get a point off the Italians. This was not a reference to the own goal but rather to the one point the US got for the tie.
As for the 2010 reference it was meant as a joke but I agree with the second anon that the US is going to be competitive for years to come.
